Many in the West may be put off by the realization that the values that they take for granted may be totally unheard of in certain parts of the world. I know for a fact that people in my culture have gotten used to murders and negligence of human rights, but if a couple were caught kissing in public, as it were the very fabric of society would be shred to smithereens.

I was so angry with the amount of le in this book and disgusted at a how a year man insists on marrying a year-old girl. It is into this family that Seierstad comes. The author says in the preface that ,abul was inspired by this family.
